San Geronimo - Taos Pueblo
Taos, New Mexico
Located in the Taos Pueblo, just north of Taos, New Mexico, this massive adobe church has walls almost 3’ thick in places. Built around 1850, and altered several times with the twin bell towers being added around 1920. The church is still in use today and is central to many of the traditional ceremonies and feast days of the Taos Pueblo. In this sculpture I have tried to capture the age, history and spirit of the structure.
The assemblage in the drawer is by PJ Cardinale.
