Founded in 1731, the actual church was constructed between 1746 – 1756.   It is a fascinating structure with the Espandaña or bell tower on the side of the structure instead of on the front façade.  I was taken by the dramatic scale of the Espandaña and the wonderful rhythm it produces.  The whimsical double stairway that I added accents the two entrances to the church.
